J. CHAD EDWARDS

CO-MANAGING PARTNER

J. Chad Edwards graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Accounting in 1998. He earned his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California in 2001 before receiving his L.L.M. in Real Property Development from the University of Miami in Miami, Florida in 2004. He is licensed to practice law in California, Louisiana, and Florida. Chad was also a federal law clerk for the Chief Federal District Judge for the Western District of Louisiana.

As Co-Managing Partner, Mr. Edwards is actively involved in managing the day to day operations of EDG. Although he oversees all facets of the company’s business through development, construction, marketing, sales and lease up, his primary focus is towards sourcing, underwriting, structuring and executing new development and investment opportunities. He administers property acquisitions, market analysis, due diligence, financial analysis, product design, project financing, asset management, strategic planning, risk management, and attainment of entitlements and permits. He has more than 10 years of professional real estate development and management experience, which includes working for large national institutional grade development companies.

Prior to EDG, Mr. Edwards opened the Orlando office as Development Manager for Higgins Development Partners; a Chicago based national Developer of Class A Office and Industrial Warehouse Distribution buildings. As Development Manager, Mr. Edwards not only managed current assets, but was responsible for sourcing new potential office and industrial projects in Central and Northern Florida, including Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville. Specific responsibilities included the evaluation of potential development and acquisition opportunities through financial modeling, market analysis and detailed feasibility studies. Development responsibilities included managing the due diligence process, managing the leasing team and consultants, and implementing marketing plans. Mr. Edwards also spent approximately one year in Scottsdale, Arizona with Higgins Development Partners working primarily on an approximate 1.2 million square foot mixed-use office/retail/residential state of the art research and development facility for Arizona State University.

Before Higgins Development Partners, Mr. Edwards worked as Development Associate in Orlando, Florida for The Morgan Group; a Houston, Texas based nationally recognized developer of luxury multi-family residences with offices nationwide. In this role he was thoroughly involved with site selection/acquisition, market analysis, due diligence, financial analysis, entitlement approval, product design and project financing for $100 million dollar plus multi-family projects. Responsibilities included leading the design professionals and consultants through the project pre-development process, establishing development budgets and timelines, and working hand-in-hand with the in-house construction general contractor and management teams.

Mr. Edwards was also the Director of Asset Resolution for Urbanscape USA. In this role, Mr. Edwards was responsible for overseeing the resolution of troubled assets for the company’s clients. He specialized in providing advisory services to banks and lenders regarding loan workouts, REO assets and other non-performing/underperforming real estate loans and assets.
